The exploits of various guests and employees of a luxury resort over the course of a week. HBO has renewed the series for a second season, although the series was supposed to be a limited series for one season. The series is said to be an anthology series with new characters each season. HBO has done this before (to great success) with the series True Detective (2014). Included in Jeremy Vine: Episode #4,175 (2021). While parts of the first season were awkward. This second season is masterful as hell. The first episode starts off a bit slow, but quickly finds its groove and continues to impress and captivate me as if I hadn’t yet fully experienced it. It feels like a repeat of every thought I’ve ever had at a resort, many of which I’ve long forgotten. For that reason alone it’s a pleasure, but don’t worry, it goes much further, flirting with the lyrical heights of drama and beauty, which is quite appropriate given the Sicilian setting. Given the excellent acting and the apparent simplicity of the story, I have to say that Mike White, the creator of this series, is something of an unsung genius. The guy seems to ignore limitations and has one of the sharpest eyes for detail I’ve ever seen.
