Essex and Wales collide when Gavin and Stacey fall in love, taking friends, family and luggage with them. Apart from the London scenes in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including the scenes set in the film. Essex. The house that was used as the Shipmans’ home. The house (Gavin’s family) is in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile north-west of Bury, where the Westies (Stacey’s family) live. In Series 3, Breen and Gavin’s cars have completely different number plates to the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo has changed from a T-reg (MY 1999) to an X-reg (MY 2000). Breen’s green Picasso has changed from a CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to an HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are obviously different cars. This is truly one of the best comedy series I’ve seen in years. Following the relationship between Gavin (Matthew Horne – Teachers and Catherine Tate) and Stacey (Joanne Page) from their initial flirtation over the phone through to their wedding day and then marriage. This show is expertly written by James Corden and Ruth Jones who also play Gavin and Stacey’s best friends Smithy and Ness (who totally steal the show in my opinion). Those who rated this show poorly obviously have no sense of humour and can’t appreciate decent comedy!
